Finnish festive march to the Independence day

97th anniversary of the independence of Finland surpassed all previous celebrations.

Patriots and nationalists held a peaceful march on the Mannerheim street in Helsinki for the first time, while the anti-fascists and leftist radicals staged a fight with police officers near the presidential palace.

The march organized by the "6.12 Torch" youth nationalist movement, started at the Bay of Toolo, and ended in a military cemetery Hietaniemi.

Each participant had a torch in his hand and tape in the form of a small national flag of Finland, great Finnish flag bearers walked in front and behind the column. March organizers make passionate speeches and sang the anthem at the Toolontori square before the March.


The event was announced in advance in the social network Facebook and on the Finnish National Resistance website (fin. Kansallinen Suomen Vastarinta). According to the organizers of the march was politically independent. The National symbols was only raised on the march, without any political parties symbols.


However, MPs from Eduskunta right opposition party "True Finns" (Finn. Perussuomalaiset) and activists Finnish National Resistance also joined the action. The mood among the audience was elated. According to police departments Helsinki, the event was attended by 300 to 500 people, including 10 activists of the Italian CasaPound 25 and Estonian nationalists.
