A CITIZEN OF RUSSIA FIGHTS FOR UKRAINE IN THE RANKS OF THE "AZOV" REGIMENT

Famous Russian opposition channel "Sotnik TV" interviewed Russian fighter of the "Azov" regiment Yaromir Bukreyev. Yaromir, who considers Putin's regime the biggest enemy of Russian and Ukrainian peoples that started war on Ukraine in order to prevent the Maidan in Russia, has fought against the Russian occupiers in Shyrokyne since the very beginning. He underlines that in spite of the truce the Russian units continue shelling Ukrainian territories, with the mortars in particular.

According to him, the enemy suffered much bigger losses than the Ukrainian side because of the former's typical inhuman treatment of the fighters. For instance, in April the "Azov" regiment's reconnaissance group engaged in a fight with approximately 50 members of the special forces of Russian regular army. The reconnaissance group suffered one killed, two wounded soldiers, whereas the OSCE mission estimated the total number of killed on the Russian side at 29 fighters. As opposed to Russians, only two Ukrainian soldiers were a part of military personnel, others were a former school teacher, a businessman, etc.

Yaromir explained that nobody will ever forgive and let reintegrate into the Ukrainian society the leaders of pro-Russian "People's Republic of Donetsk / Lugansk" (DNR and LNR) like Pushylin or Zakharchenko. He said that the morale of Ukrainian soldiers is very high and they are ready to face the enemy in case of a full-scale invasion. Recently the "Azov" regiment commander, goes on to say Yaromir, promised the soldiers that sooner or later they will get a long-anticipated order to start an offensive against those Kremlin-backed pseudorepublics.

Yaromir laughed at the leitmotif of the Kremlin's propaganda, according to which Russia wages war not against Ukraine, but against the US and stressed that his unit and Ukrainians in general fight solely by their own means in East Ukraine. Yaromir said that he's not going to return home where he will be instantly imprisoned, although he was much better paid in Russia than in Ukraine. He fights for the idea, summed up Yaromir, and hopes to liberate someday his homeland, because he understands that in Russia left many decent people who understand what's going on in Ukraine and also want to live in their own free country.
