"TOO WHITE JESUS" - CHRONICLES OF IGNORANCE

A resident of New York filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Museum for posting of "offensive and racist" exhibition, where Jesus Christ was depicted as a white blonde.

33-years-old Justin Renel Joseph has applied to the Supreme Court of Manhattan with complaint to four paintings by Italian masters, which were exhibited in the museum, it were: "The Holy Family with Angels" by Sebastiano Ricci; "The Resurrection" by Perugino; "The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes" by Tintoretto; and "The Crucifixion" by Francesco Granacci. The plaintiff accused the masters of the Renaissance and New York's Museum in "offended the aesthetic bleaching" of Jesus Christ, who according to him should "look different."

The lawsuit states that the image of Jesus Christ doesn't looks like the plaintiff, who has “black hair and skin of bronze color.” He argues he suffered “personal stress” after viewing of the above noted masterpieces of Italian artists of the Renaissance period and placing this exhibition in the Metropolitan museum was "an extreme manifestation of discrimination."

"When they were painted, it was typical for artists to depict subjects with the same identity as the local audience. This phenomenon occurs in many other cultures, as well," said the museum's spokesman.
