RUSSIA'S NEW DIPLOMATIC INCONVENIENCES

For last three days Russia has been involved in three diplomatic scandals. First, Moldova expelled five Russian diplomats, in response to the Russian Federation declared five Moldovan diplomatic representatives as persona non grata.

This news had seriously infuriated Moldovan pro-Kremlin president Dodon, he spoke out sharply against the country's Prime Minister, Foreign Ministry and Special Services, saying that they've got out of control. In fact, the actions of the Moldovan side are correct and quite expedient: expulsion of another country's diplomats was the only possible measure in case of their involvement in espionage or subversive activities. Similar news came from Estonia few days ago. Two Russian diplomats have been expelled from the country for similar reasons. In response, the Russian Federation announced the expulsion of two Estonian diplomatic representatives. At the same time, Montenegro seems to have recovered from the attempt of a coup d'état by Russian proxies (secret services of the Great Britain and Ukraine provided special assistance to Montenegro in the artificial coup prevention), and compiled a sanctions list, which banned top Russian leaders from visiting the Balkan country.

As we see, for this week Russia has been involved in three incidents, which can be classified as diplomatic scandals.  At the same time, the diplomatic missions of the Russian Federation are still working in Ukraine, and one can be sure that they continue to conduct intelligence activities. Apart from its direct function, diplomacy has always been a de facto means of legitimizing intelligence activities. A person who has a diplomat status is in a fundamentally different legal field than an ordinary citizen of a foreign state. At the same time, Russia's diplomats (ie "Russian foreign intelligence workers") haven't been expelled from the country for three years since the invasion! It goes without saing that the very fact of presence of an enemy's official representatives in a belligerent country invokes many uncomfortable questions for the one's security services. In fact, Russia implements wide spectrum of activities by means of its diplomatic missions in Ukraine. It allows them to constantly contact with Ukrainian citizens, collect information through monitoring; by means of fictitious firms, agencies or branches of Russian enterprises, Moscow injects money into the country for financing all sorts of illegal subversive anti-Ukrainian activities, to arrange regular anti-Ukrainian provocations on the 9th May, to pay for vandalism acts against memorial tablets of figures of the Ukrainian national movement, etc. Thus, the struggle with the structures of influence of the Russian Federation in Ukraine is an immediate necessity.
