THE LITHUANIAN-POLISH-UKRAINIAN ANTI-RUSSIAN REBELLION WARRIORS WERE COMMEMORATED IN KYIV

On January 22, a quite symbolic commemorative event devoted to the fallen soldiers of the January uprising of 1863 took place in the "Kyiv Fortress" National Historical and Architectural Museum of Kyiv.

155 years ago Ukrainians, Poles and Lithuanians, united by a common idea started an insurgency against the oppression from the Russian Empire, which had occupied the lands of our peoples and imposed own order there using terror, denationalization policy and repressions. For a short period of time, local rebellions had turned into a massive rebellion all-over the region, a rebellion of oppressed peoples who saw a ghostly chance of liberation from the chains of Tsarism.

It should be noted that, in spite of contradictions and numerous military conflicts between Ukraine and Poland and Lithuania, at that time the three nations united against the common enemy. Confirmation of this is the emblem of the rebels, which contains the then state symbols of the Ukrainian, Polish and Lithuanian peoples. Even then, our peoples understood the mutual need for peace and cooperation against Russia and other cosmopolitan formations, who aren't abbandoning attempts to absorb our states.
