HISTORICAL CHANCE - VERCHOVNA RADA HAS APROVED THE APPEAL ABOUT AUTOCEPHALY FOR UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

Nowadays, as never before, Ukraine is close to restoration of own autocephalous Orthodox Church.

The very issue of need an unified local Orthodox church in Ukraine have been existing for a hundred of years. Although the Moscow Patriarchate Orthodox Church members had been planting anti-Ukrainian opinions in a Christian comunity and promoting all sorts of pro-Russian paramilitary organisations in Ukraine for years before the outbreak of open conflict, it has completely revealed itself as another branch of the FSB agency network only after the start of Russia's hybrid invasion.

The very inter-patriarchal conflict between Kyiv and Moscow dates back 1686, when the Ecumenical Patriarch Dionysius the Fourth and the Holy Synod of the Church of Constantinople issued the edict on transfer of the Kyivan Metropolitanate to the canonical jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. The act was adopted in violation of the sacred canons of the Orthodox Church and therefore should be recognized as illegal.

One way or another, the Ukrainian church has been struggling for anthocephalus since 1991, each time facing the hard obstacles from the Russian Orthodox Church and Russian political puppets in Ukraine.

The Kievan Patriarchate has already stated its unanimous support of all efforts aimed at recognizing the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, as well as overcoming the existing church division, the establishment of an unified local Orthodox Church.

Clearly, the Moscow Patriarchate will not give away easely its influence base in Ukraine, It is expected, that in nearest future the Russian Orthodox Church will put pressure on both the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Constantinople and Ukrainian parishioners, using blackmail, dirty provocations and manipulations.

Nevertheless, statistics shows that Ukrainians are increasingly giving preference to the Kievan Patriarchate; and such changes have been cuaed not only by intensed tensions between Russia and Ukraine, but also by numerous cases of anti-Ukrainian activities and quite unworthy behavior by members of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine.

We hope that the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew concerning Ukrainian autocephaly will be approved by the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Ukraine. Let's pray together!
